
Jacob DePriest

Jacob DePriest is the Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Information Officer at 1Password, responsible for protecting the company’s products, customer data, and operations while enabling productivity across the business. Jacob brings his experience leading security, engineering, and IT teams to strengthen 1Password's commitment to security, privacy, and transparency.
Before joining 1Password, Jacob was Vice President and Deputy Chief Security Officer at GitHub, where he led the GitHub Security team, overseeing security operations, product security, governance, and research to keep the home of over 100 million developers safe. Previously, he spent 15 years as a senior executive at the National Security Agency, where he founded and scaled the Developer Experience program, served as the Agency’s executive sponsor for open source, and led major IT and security transformation initiatives.
In addition to his role at 1Password, Jacob advises and invests in early-stage companies in AI and cybersecurity and has published widely on emerging security topics. He has been recognized as a leading voice in open source security and AI-driven cybersecurity by industry publications. Jacob holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Outside of work, Jacob enjoys staying active, reading science fiction/fantasy, and hanging out with his wife and two boys in Maryland.
