Bad actors can exploit insecure or unencrypted SSH keys to gain access to servers, databases, and other systems. With our password manager, developers can now review and mitigate potential SSH key security risks that exist on their Mac, Windows PC, or Linux machine's local disk.

Watchtower is built into 1Password 8 and serves as your personal hub for security insights. After enabling this new feature, Watchtower will provide security alerts about SSH keys that are stored in plaintext or use outdated cryptography. 1Password will even prompt developers to import any SSH keys that aren't already stored in a 1Password vault.

1Password Service Accounts let you automate the process of managing secrets in your applications and infrastructure. A crucial element of this offering is Service Account tokens, which allow Service Accounts to authenticate with 1Password CLI.

Administrators often need to rotate Service Account tokens to address security risks, like accidental exposure or employee offboarding. Setting an expiration date lets you roll out a new Service Account token while ensuring the old one works for a short period of time. This new functionality lets you update downstream pipelines and applications without service interruptions.

Control how your team uses a password manager with three new policies. The first lets you choose which email domains can be used to save new items in 1Password. If a team member signs up for something with an email address that isn't on your list, they'll be prompted to store the item in their personal 1Password account instead of their work one.

The second policy lets you control if employees are able to save and sign in with passkeys using the 1Password desktop app or 1Password on their iOS and Android devices. Finally, you can choose if team members are able to see the Developer Tools option in the sidebar of 1password.com.
