Junior Developer
Join our development team
The 1Password development sphere houses a number of different teams, ranging from backend and frontend server development to platform-specific groups responsible for our apps on macOS, iOS, Windows, and Android as well as the command-line tools and browser extensions.

We’re looking for an ambitious developer who’s seeking to start their software development career working with some of the smartest folks to ever fire up an IDE. If you have a penchant for programming, dig debugging, crave collaboration, and adore alliteration, chances are the 1Password team has a home for you.
What we're looking for
- A software developer who is early in their career and has some programming experience under their belt.
- Some experience developing apps for macOS, iOS, Windows, Android, the command line, backend server environments, or frontend web deployments. This is a junior role so you’re not expected to be an expert, but you should know your way around a common IDE, Git, and languages used for these platforms.
- Someone who’s hungry to learn new things. If you naturally enjoy researching, improving your own work, and helping others improve theirs, this is the team for you.
- A strong drive to solve difficult problems and ask for help when you need it.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills: our team is remote, so you’ll be sending a lot of messages (and GIFs, pet photos, etc.) in Slack and elsewhere.
- Excitement to learn new things from other people on the team.
- Someone who’s comfortable receiving and responding to feedback from others.
While each of our teams at 1Password has its own microcosm of culture, a common thread that runs through all of them is that they are a group of individuals who love taking on hard challenges to make the lives of our customers better.
What you can expect
- Meet your teammates, get to know them, and learn how your team works together.
- Review the tools and platforms that 1Password uses, familiarize yourself with our development processes, and get your development environment set up.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Work with your team lead to identify the first problems you’re going to solve for our customers.
- Solve some real issues that people are having with 1Password today.
- Ask questions. Lots of questions.
Month 1
- Take on additional bug fixes and feature improvements under the guidance of senior teammates.
- Continue to participate in code reviews.
- Speak with our customers and learn how they use 1Password.
- Ask more questions.
- Learn, learn, learn.
Month 3
- Start working a bit more independently.
- Work with your team lead and take on a slightly larger, independent development task.
- Continue to participate in code reviews.
- Learn from the mistakes you’ve made so far – we all make them, and there’s always a lesson or two from each one. Just be sure not to burn anything down.
Month 6
Position filled
We’re always on the lookout for smart, motivated people. While we might not have a position that exactly describes your dream job we would still like to talk. Let us know what you’re great at.
